Early Life and Education

Born on April 15, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland, the future astronaut attended Nether Providence High School in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. She graduated in 1969 and went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado, completing her studies in 1973.

Career at NASA

1974-1980: Johnson Space Center

Following graduation, she worked as an engineer at NASA's Johnson Space Center from 1974 to 1980.

1980-1984: Gulfstream-1 Support

In 1980, she transitioned to NASA's Gulfstream-1 support group.
1984-1985: Astronaut Candidate Training

In 1984, she was selected to join NASA's astronaut corps and underwent general space training at the Lisa nowak.
